If an electric or hybrid vehicle has suspected battery-enclosure damage, a high-voltage warning, smoke, unusual heat or a chemical odor after an impact, do not drive it. Move away from the vehicle and contact emergency services if there is an immediate fire risk; otherwise arrange towing to a properly equipped facility.
Does an Accident Always Reduce Resale Value?
There is no universal percentage showing how much an accident reduces a vehicle’s value. The effect depends on the vehicle, the severity and location of the damage, repair quality, documentation, history reports and current market conditions.
Keep estimates, invoices, alignment measurements and other repair records. Accurate documentation can help a future buyer understand what was inspected and repaired.
